We have so many amazing instructors at Stony Creek. Some instructors have been with us for over 10 years and others are new to our team, but they all have a few things in common. All of our instructors have a passion for children and water safety and they have been working very hard to become exceptional members of our team! We would like to take some time over the next few weeks and introduce them a little more and share some fun information with our swim families.
Lyndsy
Miss Lyndsy has worked at SCSC since 1996. She loves teaching Little Swimmers 1 & 2 and Super Swimmers 1 (although she can teach any level the boss throws at her). This is a quickly changing time in any child’s development and Lyndsy not only enjoys seeing swimming milestones (her favorite being their first independent swim), but also life milestones, from first teeth, learning to crawl, walk, & talk, to being potty trained. Every kid loves to play and every parent wants their kid to be safe. Being a swim instructor she get to ‘play’ with the kids while teaching a life saving skill. She is a USSSA certified Infant/Toddler instructor and has extensive training from Rob and Kathy McKay, who developed the Diaper Dolphin infant program. Lyndsy is married with 2 children, 1 dog, and 1 cat. On top of being a swim instructor, she also has a full time job as the Operations Assistant for a local General Contractor/Construction Management Firm. She enjoy jogging, playing with the kids, and camping. As a family they have 3 passions: God Almighty, the Colts, and the Cubs! Favorite quote: “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.”-Mary Anne Radmacher
Clayton
Mr. Clayton has worked at SCSC for three years. His favorite level would have to be a tie between Clown Fish and Dolphins. In Clown Fish you are really introducing the students to swimming and in Dolphins we get to help students we have taught for so long become successful swimmers. His favorite thing about being a swim instructor is interaction with the students. Getting to know them and simply asking how their day went is the best part of the job and helps make his day better. Clayton is 16 years old and a junior in high school. He loves the job he does and helping people. In his free time he likes to hang out with friends, as well as play guitar. He was diagnosed with a life threatening disease at 2 weeks old, but still lives everyday to the fullest without anything to hold him down.
Miranda
Miss Miranda has been teaching at SCSC for 4 1/2 years. Her favorite levels to teach are Super Swimmers and Puffer Fish, because she loves it when they finally put their eyes in and start swimming by themselves. Miranda’s favorite part of teaching is the feeling of taking a child who is terrified or can’t swim at all and totally transforming them into a little fish and she is very good at that! Miss Miranda is the proud mommy of a beautiful 11 month old little girl named Daisy. When she’s not teaching she is going to school to become a preschool teacher. She loves swimming, singing, and spending time with her family. You can see Miranda in action at SCSC most mornings and Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Peggy
Miss Peggy has been a member of the SCSC team since 2005. We often call her a water whisperer, because she can take almost any upset, anxious, or scared child and turn them into a fish! Peggy’s favorite level is Clown Fish, because they learn so much in this level and they always get excited about what they get to do. Miss Peggy’s favorite part of teaching is that “breakthrough” moment when a child really starts swimming on their own. Besides being an awesome swim instructor, Peggy is an even more awesome mom to her own two kids, Josh, who is headed off to college in a few weeks, and Jordan, who is a junior in high school and also teaches at SCSC. In her free time, Peggy enjoys hanging out with her family, playing golf, and traveling. You can find Miss Peggy at SCSC most weekday mornings.
These are just a few of the amazing staff members at SCSC! We hope you enjoy learning more about our staff and we will keep sharing!
