Medical & Safety Questions

What is the camper to counselor ratio? (For activities and in the pool)

Our ratio is 10/12:1 and is based on age. While campers are in the pool, 3 counselors are in the water, and there is an additional lifeguard on deck. All camp staff are lifeguard certified.

How is the camp staff trained?

Camp counselors must be at least 18 years old and have previous experience working with children. All of our camp staff are American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certified and lifeguard certified. We also require camp staff to complete an extensive training prior to the start of camp, which includes training on child development, behavior management, leadership, activity and curriculum development, and medical training (i.e. using Epi Pens, inhalers, etc.). All camp staff complete a course on child abuse, as required by the Safe Sports Act.

My child is on a special diet (gluten free, allergies, etc.). Will camp provide for that?

Parents are responsible for providing items for campers on restricted/special diets.

What happens during severe weather (heat, rain, etc.)?

In the case of extreme heat, we will utilize the pool more often and rotate campers in the clubhouse for cooling down periods. Our staff have been trained in heat safety and use a heat index chart established for childcare purposes to determine if it is safe for children to be outdoors. In the event of lightning or severe weather, campers will be taken to the clubhouse.

How many times do you apply sunscreen? And do I have to provide it?

As many times as possible! We always apply sunscreen before our pool time and we apply between 3-4 times per day. We provide sunscreen for all campers, however if your child has sensitivities or allergies and requires a specific sunscreen, it is the parents’ responsibility to provide the required sunscreen for their child.

General Info Questions
