Illness and Medical Treatment

The State Board of Health requires that all medication come to camp in the original container and be clearly labeled with the correct name, drug, and dosage schedule. The camp staff will not give campers any medication that is not properly labeled or that is not prescribed to your child. Please send only the medication needed for that day. Medications must be given to camp staff and not kept with your child, including over- the-counter medication. Epi-pens and/or inhalers for campers who require immediate treatment will be stored it in their Camp Counselor’s backpack.

Camp staff will provide minor medical treatment. If your child becomes acutely ill during camp, our staff will contact you at the emergency numbers provided on the registration form. If your child has been exposed to a contagious illness, has had a fever or diarrhea 24-hours before attending camp, please call our office to discuss rescheduling your child’s camp week. If you need to contact the camp staff during camp hours, please call the office at (317) 773-7399 option 3. A message will be given to the camp staff and they will return your call as soon as they can. You are welcome to email the camp director to discuss any questions or concerns.

COVID-19 Procedures

Please remember camp happens in a close community, our camp has always taken great care to develop and maintain medical practices to address a variety of communicable diseases, both common and rare.

We have communicable disease plans in place that will be maintained in cooperation with public health authorities, the CDC, and the ACA Nursing guidelines.  These plans will be revised as additional COVID-19 guidance is provided. We will continue to work closely with our local public health department to maintain effective protocols for the identification and appropriate treatment of any illnesses that may occur at camp, including COVID-19.

Per Governor Holcomb’s phased reopening plan, we plan to discontinue some of the procedures on July 6th, as we decide what works best for our camp.  We will keep our camp families informed if this plan changes.

Prior to arrival

All camp families will need to fill out our COVID-19 Questionnaire the Friday prior to camp starting on Monday. If this questionnaire is not filled out, your camper will not be allowed to participate for that week. Each day your camper attends camp, you will be asked to initial the questionnaire indicating that nothing on the questionnaire has changed in your household. If anything has changed, you will need to notify the Director immediately.

Arrival and Pick-up

When arriving please stay in your vehicle at the sidewalk in front of the clubhouse. During this time, all campers and anyone in the vehicle will be required to take their temperature upon arrival. If everyone, including the camper, has a temperature of 100.4° or below, your camper will be signed in and taken in the building by a staff member.

When arriving to pick up your camper, pull up to the cones in the drop-off area and your child will be brought out to you. ID will be required when releasing campers. If your camper is not picked up by 4:30, after care charges will be applied.

If your child will not be attending camp for a day, please call or email the Camp Director by 8:00am to notify the camp staff. If you need to pick up early or drop off late, please send an email.

Camper & Staff PPE

Campers and staff have the option of wearing wear masks, but it will not be required. If you would like your child to wear a mask, you must provide it.

During Camp

All campers and staff will be washing their hands frequently. All staff members will carry hand sanitizer with them. In addition to our very thorough cleaning and sanitation, we will be cleaning and sanitizing multiple times per day. We will only be allowing staff and campers to enter the building until this situation improves or July 6th, whichever comes first.

The Pool

According to the CDC, chlorine kills the coronavirus and will not affect our pool time. We will sanitize the slide, ladders, picnic tables, and all touched surfaces multiple times per day for our camper’s safety. We will not be using any toys or equipment that holds water (i.e. squeeze toys, noodles, etc.). Face masks will not be allowed in the pool.

Weather

Camp is held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather children are brought into the designated safe area. The office staff monitors the weather continually throughout the day. Rainy day activities are planned by the camp staff to ensure your child has a good time. Please send a raincoat and rain boots on rainy days.

Photos and Social Media

During camp, staff take a lot of photographs and videos of the activities, sports, campers, and crafts. We often use these photographs in advertisements, flyers, and in informational materials. We, also, share photos and videos on our social media sites. If you do not wish to have your child’s image used, please let us know. A photo release form is provided. Please complete the form and return it with the other camp materials.
